17/05/2011 - Corvera International Airport.
Corvera International Airport is expected to open its doors to worldwide visitors at the end of 2011. This airport is seen as a much needed boost to the areas of Orihuela Costa, Torrevieja, Murcia and surrounding areas.
Aena and the minister of development have agreed to the closure of San Javier to commercial traffic once Corvera International opens. It is said that all employees at San Javier would move across to Corvera.
Corvera International will serve all the airlines offering flights to the new Paramount Resort expected to open in 2016. Corvera will also have an underground AVE fast train connection for travelers up and down the coast.
Corvera is expected to offer significant incentives to attract airlines to move from the Alicante hub before the Paramount theme park opens.
Orihuela Costa expects to benefit from the increase in worldwide visitors who wish to locate themselves between the beaches and entertainment areas of this region, so future growth is a welcome prediction.
